MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Type 9 Speedo
| Hello, I have an oil leak from the speedo connection to the gearbox (Type 9) I got a repair kit but I don't know how to remove the speedo cable. I really don't want to remove the box (and wouldn't know how!) to repair this but it's really hard to get near the connection. Does anyone know a solution without removing the box, or some kind of sealant I could use? Thanks |

| the Ford type9 speedo cable is held in with a large circlip, in a groove at the base of the casting the cable sits in You will need circlip pliers and much luck (or strong megaflexible fingers to get it out easily) The small seal has to be eased out and the new one does then just slip down over the cable drive gear if it helps (it won't!) my new seal still leaks :( Slightly |

| " it's really hard to get near the connection. " Even with a quality set of circlip pliers (Snap-On, in my case) I found it frustrating/impossible to install/uninstall the circlip from under the car. Finally resorted to cutting a decent sized hole from the tunnel near the speedo drive output to access the clip, then covered said hole with galvanized sheet and latex caulk. Richard
