MG Midget and Sprite Technical - timing

Hi

Could someone remind me how to read the timing marks on a 1275cc engine

Is the far right tip 0, then every peak or trough to the left 2 degrees more before TDC.

Ive googled this tirelessly but cant find confirmation,

Thanks

On my 73 RWA there were 3 marks. The long one on far left (looking from front) is 0deg. The next is 5 deg adv, and the final is 10 deg adv.

My spec was to time around 7 deg btdc; that's between the 2nd and 3rd mark.

While I'm looking for it A has answered !

Also, my car '73 has five marks,

as you look at the car from the front,

reading from left,

TDC long tooth

5 short tooth

10 long tooth

15 short tooth

20 long tooth

good luck with getting the gun and your head in a position to see very well - or was that just me

Great thanks, mines the 5 tooth version, I'll be going with 7 deg btdc to start with as well.
