MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Steering Rack Lubrication

Can anyone recommend a supplier of oil guns so that I can put some EP90 into my Mk3 steering rack? I'm not fast enough using my grease gun before it runs out of the gun.

Or is it, like most things, simply down to technique!!

Thanks

Ian, what year and number is your car, post 1972ish and it's not oil
N Atkins

I have a 'Wanner' gun which can handle oil and grease.

Not cheap these days (mines 35+ years old !) but very good quality.
Google turns up various companies including Stepenslube
- which has a similar gun.

It's 1969 so it is oil. N Atkins, I've read the owners handbook as per your numerous previous suggestions to other posters, (sound advice I have to say) lubricated everything I can, serviced everything else that I can and now it looks like I'll have to find a garage with an oil gun and 'borrow' it for 10 squeezes!!

Thanks for your suggestions Richard, I'll look out for those.

Ian it's the fact the 1973 reprint states oil that the others can lambast me about it :)

Ive heard that you can loosen the gaiter boot and pour it in that way then use a zip tie or hose clamp to re-secure the rubber gaiter boot.

Ive never tried it, but I trust the source so belive it would work

I modifed a grease gun into a oil gun...so thats all it does...it still works years later....just cant store it on its side or upside down

What I did was cut the inner shaft with its spring out and used a rubber washer / fender washer with a small bolt at the bottom ...fill the tube with oil, trun it upside down and pump the lever

Ian - here is an easy way. I bought a cheap oil can from Halfords and unscrewed the plastic spout and replaced with about a metre of plastic pipe (left over from windscreen washers but you can get from pet shop selling aquarium equipment). Just remove the nipple, insert the plastic tube and pump the oil can.

Thanks for all your tips and advice, as always there's some excellent ideas.

Frost (suppliers of all things for automotive restoration)supply a cheap oil gun (usual disclaimer!).
Chris H (1970 Midget 1275)

I got an oil gun from frost and it works a treat.
