MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rebound straps
| At my last I had an advisory that the rebound straps had deteriorated. Advice would be helpful please on how critical these straps are and how easy they are to replace. Thanks. Tim 1961 Mark 2 Sprite |

| Their purpose is to prevent the rear axle, at full droop, from damaging your exhaust. They can be easy to replace, as long as the fasteners are not too rusted in place. Watch out, though, when buying replacements, because there are some for sale with no fiber reinforcement and they are junk, pattern parts that won't last any time at all. The original ones have heavy fiber reinforcing in them (you can see if you look carefully at the side). Look for that. Or, buy ones made of tie down strapping material, if you don't mind deviating from originality appearance. Someone by the name of "strapping lad" is selling them. Maybe someone else will post a link to him, I don't know it. hope this helps, Norm |
