MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Oil filler cap
does anyone know for certain if the normal (service item) plastic vented oil filler cap fits an ally rocker cover please?
Nigel Atkins
Usually but not always - up to the cover makers. Early covers may take the old metal caps. FRM

thanks for your reply FRM sorry I should have put this is an aftermarket alloy rocker cover that replaced the original one on a late R/B car
Nigel Atkins
agree with FRM; if the rocker cover maker modelled it on the Metro for instance then you'll need a red Metro one. Trial and error really...

| Sorry David I'm jumping about too much in Forums this is an aftermarket alloy rocker cover that replaced the original one on a late R/B MGB (!) I'm not sure if the plastic cap originally fitted this alloy rocker cover or not a youngster's bought the car and has had oil leaks and 300 mile oil top-ups I got photos tonight and I got him to check his breather hoses and they were gunked pretty solid by the sounds of it so it would be haddy to have the better breather plastic cap if possible as a replacement too
