MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Newman cams

Hi, does anyone have experience of Newman cams? I'm getting a 1500 engine rebuilt - more careful building and balancing than doing anything adventurous with it. Will be keeping the HS4 carbs, but using a new exhaust header, lightened flywheel, that sort of thing.

Im thinking of specing the phase 2 fast road/rally cam they say 300-6500 power band and 280/280 degrees. Then a bunch of tech stuff that is mostly meaningless to me.

No point in upping the cam if you dont mod the head to match. Unless you are going to do fast road stuff stick to a milder cam. I used Newman cams some 24 years ago but only buy from Piper these days.
