MG Midget and Sprite Technical - new made steering racks

I need a steering rack recon/refurb/replacement

Tony at B&G has told me that new units are available but not from them

Sussex and Moss have the new units for sale but do I chance it or stick to a reconditioned unit?

Anyone know if the new units are of good manufacture quality please?

Sorry, don't know about the new ones.

The last time I needed one, I had my old one rebuilt by a reputable company in Birmingham.

Thanks for the link Dave

Greg from Sussex Classic Car Parts has replied, no problems in selling them for past two years and has one fitted to his car

same supplier as Moss but sold at lower price

If it's the Spitfire derived rack then the ones Moss sell are made in Argentina. I have a high ratio (quick rack) version in my Ginetta and it's fine.

thanks Deborah for your conformation

yes it is the Spitfire derived one (grease not oil error in Handbook - and on Haynes lube chart!)

I'm going to order one, thanks

the new rack has turned up and is stiff (off car)

unable to turn the splines by hand had to put them in the vice to do it
