MG Midget and Sprite Technical - MG B internals



I have been reading an account of a Sebring sprite
rebuild. In the gear box they have used B internals
in a smooth box casing.
A would be possible in a ribbed box?
Has any one experience of this?

AFAIK there has recently (about a year ago) been one for sale with a crossflow injection headed engine.

From the pics I thought it was a 3 syncro MGB gearbox in witch they built a 5 speed trans.

they asked silly money for it
