MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Lowering compression
| What are the best options for lowering copression on a newly overhauld 1275 engine? I maesured cold (out of car yet) 160-160-160-166 psi. Might even rise with warm engine. Thinking of adding a supercharger this would be too high. Does somebody have experience on this topic? |

| Someone does a special thick copper head gasket but you might find it cheaper to just have another head built. |

| Do you actually know the compression ratio? |

| Those certianly arent bad figures I think the CR need to be around 8:1 for a super charger.. Im sure trevor will be along shortly I had my pistons shaved on its rebuild as the CR was to high ... you might look at the 21251 pistons they are a ow compression piston Id certianly look into gapless rings a little priccy put would seal nice to get the most out of your SC, My understanding is a SC will tell you where the weak spots are on your engine in a hurry. | Fit a set of low compresssion Metro pistons? Can be done in situ with the head and sump off... A |
