MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Large dia dynamo pulley
My racing frogeye has started to wreck the dynamo so the time came to slow it down with a larger pulley. Tried all the usual suppliers - Peter May, mini spares etc but they all say that the large dia pulley is no longer available. Does anyone know a supplier or is there a larger pulley off another car that will fit the dynamo? Thanks Peter

Minispeed still list it, Peter - at £50. Simplest alternative is an alternator, of course, which should be all you'd need. Expensive toothed belt kits are also available. But I still run a dynamo, with the bigger pulley, and haven't had a failure since, despite 7200 rpm constantly when racing. Andy

I used to find that I did in the alternators on my road frogeye, I suspect due to sustained motorways speeds, so I fitted a dynamo pulley to the alternator and that sorted the problem. The Lucas dynamo pulley was a straight swap onto the alternator. On from that machining a pulley is easy so why not have one made to your requirements.
