MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Hood marks
Hi, there are whitish marks appearing on my hood; they're where the hood folds and have only just become visible now the hood is back up. It's an MGOC double duck hood - has anyone any tips for their removal? The hood is only washed very occasionally with clean water. Thanks. Jeremy

yes they’re not as practical as good old vinyl :) you may find you can brush it off if it isn’t too bad and you’re careful if you remember the brushomatic type brushes from the ‘70s adverts with Velcro type hook pad that you bushed one way to pick up the fluff/lint/dirt (and bush the other way to off load) well, they are very good I’ve found for cleaning and bringing the pile up on previous hoods I’ve had on other cars cotton-duck as I remember it from my cycling days needs water proofing with something like Fabsil (or Renovo perhaps for show type cars)

Thanks Nigel, yes I do remember those brushomatics - think there's one lying around the house somewhere. I've got some Autoglym hood reviver so I'll dig that out and give it a whirl as well. Vinyl is as you say much more straightforward! Jeremy

if you find that brushomatic whether or not it cleans up your marks you might still find that it's useful on making the hood look smart by bringing the pile up and in putting it in one direction if either works, or not, if you could report back please then I'll know for sure whether or not to recommend it in future as I'm not sure of the hood material it worked on with my previous cars
