MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Fitting bullet wing mirrors
Morning all, this might seem a dumb question, but I have just bought a really nice pair of chrome bullet wing mirrors. Can you guys help me with the fitting? what is the correct positioning and how do I make sure they are both in the correct position. The fixing holes are at 2" centres. Thanks PJ

Ha ha You are asking about the correct place to fit a pair of aftermarket mirrors! The only correct aswer is where ever you want! Just make sure that you can look behind you through them

Excellent advice Onno thanks. Yes these are after market mirrors. I just wondered if you had any cunning tips to make sure they are exactly the same position on each wing.

masking tape on the area, then measure and mark! MEASURE MANY TIMES --DRILL ONCE!

PJ Dont forget if you put them on the wings they will bug the life out of you every time you work on the engine bay!

Mick, sounds like you have some experience in fitting mirrors? LOL!!! How is the K comming along, will it be on the road when I come over to Yorkshire again this summer?

The closer you mount them to the driver the more angle you will have to put on them, that might require opening up the adjustment slot with a grinder or file a bit. I mounted mine on the doors, just under the vent windows, but they're really too close in and don't give the best field of view. I suggest getting a couple of good quality disc magnets and bolting the mirrors to those and trying them in several locations on the wings to see how the view is before deciding on a location and drilling.
