MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Engine Enamel
Can anyone recommend a good engine enamel available in the UK. I'm looking for black which will be going onto a stripped and squeaky clean 1275 engine. I bought a small pot of Tetrseal Enamel and tried a test patch and the coverage was prety poor. The rough casting peaks were showing through. Whilst I could give it 2 coats and see what happens I seem to remember 20 odd years ago, BMC green enamel bought from Camberley Auto factors, covered a treat and has only just been removed with a few rust patches to show for it. Holden Por 15 enamel gets a few mentions on the Net. Any experience? I'm looking for something that will look good and go the distance.

All motor shops sell engine paint and black is a pretty common colour although red is always in stock.

I used the Moss product. Looks as good as when done 10 years ago.

| I had my block and head powder coated...about 2.5 years ago and about 2 rebuilds ago ... Its now got about 75 miles on it, and still looks as good today as it did when I picked it up from the powder coaters Prop

I got some from the MG Owners club. Covered well with one coat, although I gave it two in the end. It has only been on for a year but it is still on and looking good. They do several colours (red black and green IIRC). Dave
