MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Correct part no. for 9/16' OD main bearing dowel?
I need a main bearing dowel for my engine 1275 12CEDAH. The dowels are 9/16" OD and I'm unsure of the part noumber for it. I got one from a 1275 mini but it's too big it was 5/8" eventhough this mini engine had the same rods and crank as mine. There are two part numbers in the Moss catalogue. 2A54 with no description and a 12G1268 with a description of "late 12CC, all 12CE and 12V units" So I think the 12G1268 may be the one for me but wanted to be sure as it has to come from the UK. Anyone able to help?

According to my book, the 2A54 dowel is for 'very early 12CC' and appears to be used where the main bearing cap bolt is secured with a locktab. 12G1268 appears to be the one that you want.

Thanks Dave got a new dipstick tube too. Did wonder about the locktabs, non on mine. On engines I've built over the years I've never seeb locktabs on main caps so wondered whether they were neccesary but since it was in the parts diagram I decided to order some too. Nothing's easy on this car but at least all the parts are still available. It just takes a bit longer.
