MG Midget and Sprite Technical - C40 Dynamo

I am reworking a C40 dynamo. Can anyone tell me if the radius of new field coils is a bit tighter than the housing?

I have a new pair of coils but the box they came in may be mismarked as to the part numbers of the coils inside.

The inductance checks close enough, the DC resistance is in the ball park and the length of the pole pieces is OK.

Unfortunately the width is not easily measureable due to the shape of the pole pieces.

As you surely know the pole pieces are a pain to remove. So I would like some help before I go to the trouble of trying to remove them and then find that the coils I have are not correct.

Alternatively, does anyone have field coils known to fit a C40 dynamo??
Sincerely,
Bob

Bob,

Recently I had to rebuild a C40 with a long tachometer nose. (it was toasted because there was corrosion in a screw connector of the control box...).
The fit was very close indeed, I had the same fears as you. At last when everything was ready there where no problems.
I sourced the parts very cheap on E- bay they came from Cyprus. Adjusting the C40 in the car is a pain in the ass. The V belt with the right length is the problem as the oil pipe prevents the C40 from adjusting to far enough for a somewhat smaller V belt.
Be careful with the torque on the pulley. I gave to much torque (greasing the thread) so the open ring on the armature was destroyed. that toasted the armature on a long fast journey from le Mans .
