MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Broken tooth on bevel gear
I have a 3.9:1 diff (Salisbury type) that has lost a tooth. It was running OK before I replaced it with a 4.5 (sprints/hillclinbs) but I want to revert to the 3.9. Question is, can I just replace one bevel gear? I know crownwheel and pinions should be replaced as a pair but what about the bevel gears? Thanks in anticipation JohnT

I reckon you can; it's so easy to change it's worth a go. Out of interest is it a sun or planet gear that's lost a tooth?

If you mean the bevel gears inside the cage, then it's no problem to replace just the one.
