MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 oil cooler torque

Hi there,
Just got an oil cooler and the instructions are practically non-existant! Most of it I've gleaned from the archives but just wondering what sort of torque settings I should be using for the hose connections.

Thanks,

You can't get a socket on them and while there are alternatives no-one seems concerned about them.

They do need to be very tight as they are only tightned to ensure the two mating surfaces are clamped together and don't work loose. Pinch them tight and see if you get a dribble of oil and if so tighten a bit harder. Don't forget that the oil cooler is aluminium alloy and quite soft but doesn't usually have a coarse thread.

I think Daniel (Danial if prop is reading LOL) meant to say "They do NOT need to be very tight" as stated nip them up and check for leakage and if they weep then give them a little more. The one thing you must do is hold the cooler union with a spanner to work against you tightening the hose, otherwise you stand a chance of damaging the oil cooler.

Yes, that's what I meant - splitting headache and I ought to have gone to bed.
