MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 Hood issue?

My mg midget hood is all fitted and looks fantastic the header rail sits on top of the windscreen yet the locking clasps wont close they seem to want to push the hood past the windscreen rather than down into the tabs? ANy help would be appreciated.

Have you tried just pulling back on the header rail while locking the clamps? That may sound simplistic, but it's all I can think of, given your description.

Is the fabric too tight?

Try to get the tabs on the header rail as vertical as possible as you operate the over centre clips. Sometimes the tabs try to dig into the windscreen top rail instead of sliding down into the slots. Have you got the adjusting screws on the header rail too "shortly" adjusted?
