Thanks to all you guys for your help getting those little niggly thing sorted, Nigel, Bob, for help with halogen lights and spots etc. too many to mention you all. Always great feeling to get car through MOT, went for great run around the new forest last Sunday (drive it day) hope to get another in this week-end. hope you all have a good Easter. Cheers Jack. |

leave that bearing alone as long as it is not a mot failure.

Excellent news! Be aware, if you have anything like my luck with Midget front wheel bearings, newly and carefully replaced ones have exhibited about the same amount of play as the old ones....but have always got through the MOT, thank goodness. One of those jobs that I do not enjoy, especially as success is not ensured just by changing to new bearings.

Well done Jack I'm with JB, go back and ask the examiner how much play there was if it was only a little then possobly it might or might not get mentioned next time I had a wheel bearing go two years back and was going to have both done but as with happens with me and my luck only one was done - this years MOT an advisory for the other side so I had that done and they said there was a little play in the previously replaced bearing but not enough to worry about I always grease the 6 points on the front suspension just before an MOT to help with any play there Enjoy your car regularly and keep up the full and proper servicing (from the owners Handbook of course) Tax the car for 12 months so it gets used regularly and there are so many great driving days during late autumn, winter and early spring, many top down drives too

Advisories are strange things. My good lady's Honda Jazz had an advisory on a lightly corroded rear brake pipe. Naturally, I did nothing about it except look at it and realise that it wasn't a problem yet. The next year it wasn't mentioned.

Good news Jack, my Sprite also passed its MOT yesterday after 11 months off the road for a serious amount of structural welding. New MOT's, sunshine, the summer should be good! See you all at Midget50. David

David, brilliant news and well done....! You'll be pleased to have it back on the road again... :-) MOT 'advisories' in my opinion are just to cover the Tester's ass... If he thinks that the part is OK but borderline, he should issue an advisory, if the vehicle is involved in an accident and the part has since failed, the onus is on YOU and not the tester. All advisory items should be attended to for you and your passingers sake and safety....! Mark.

I had a scrutineer at a Sprint advise me that my front wheel bearing was marginal. Six months later I saw the same scrutineer and mentioned that I had changed the bearing (when I hadn't). "Oh yes" he said, "I can feel the difference"!
