MG Midget and Sprite General - which sprite is this
| This wonderful photo is my newest screen saver. I love the period feel. Obviously on the way to or from some continental race. I'm guessing it's the docks somewhere in France? Love the period details, the DB4 in the background, the obviously improved A40 - look carefully and there is an oil coiler in the front bumper and a side exit exhaust. Don't know anymore about the photo, can anyone identify the sprite? Tim

Hard to tell without seeing more of it, but it looks a bit like 410EAO. Where did you find the photo?

It does look like EAO Jonathan or Gary could know It certainly looks like EAO's colour scheme

Currently for sale, if you've got a few quid to spare! Bill, how's your collarbone?

Sorry Dave, I really can't remember where I found the picture. I've revisited all the usual haunts and have drawn a blank. A few quid to spare.... well, I've barely got enough for the Type 9 conversion, engine rebuild and Sebring bonnet that are all supposed to be happening before Christmas.

FOUND IT! The picture comes from the A40 Farina club wesite forums. Aparently it is a Sprintzel works A40 towing EAO through Rotterdam docks on the way to a meeting. There is some lovely chatter on there and memories from someone who worked for Sprintzel. I believe it's bad form to post links direct into other forums so here's how to find it: Google Images "A40 Speedwell" the picture is on page three, jump into the website.

Tim, this is an open unmoderated forum, no vested interests so we are not precious about posting links to other fora, especially for first-hand stories about Sprinzel ! :-)

This is Andrew Hedges' racing A40, which was only demoted to towcar by his purchase of EAO, and which he still raced occasionally. I think it actually had mainly Alexander mods. It has a Berkshire registration because Andrew lived in Berkshire (as did quite a few other people - they didn't all have 'works' cars!) Tom
