MG Midget and Sprite General - Where's Fred when you need him?

Obviously the US version of Fred "do ya like that" Dibnah is not too good. LOL

Whoops!
Graham P 1330 Frogeye

That's what happens when you don't use a pile of old car tyres, old wooden pit props, 10 gallons of petrol and a match - Dibnah style.

Never rely on a laptop if you want a job doing properly!!!

As said above Fred would have dropped it perfect and had fun while doing it to. A great guy with lots of personality. RIP Fred.

Can you imagine poor Fred being allowed to drop a 300' chimney by post and fire on a confined site in Bolton today? Health and safety would have a field day with him!
I had a treat last week driving and firing a steam engine on the Severn Valley Railway and the driver said they'd had Fred down a year or two before he died. The speed limits were apparently somewhat ignored that day!

What an interesting character. I'd never heard of Fred before this, looked him up on Wikipedia.

I was lucky enough to meet Fred about 20 years ago - a real character. Here he is at his best (hope the link works)

Worth 8 mins of anyone's time to watch some vintage Fred :)

Edit: beaten to it! Too busy watching other clips of him :)

Did anyone watch 'The Boat That Guy Built'? My dad was a huge fan of Fred, and he got me watching it.

Guy Martin is very much like Fred, albeit from a bit further east. Totally barmy, not too worried about washing his hands, loves a bit of old-fashioned engineering - and he's an exceptional bike racer to boot.

Hope he does some more of that type of stuff - it was clearly designed to fill the hole Fred left, and did a good job.
