MG Midget and Sprite General - Where to buy seat slide lever spring?
I'm re-upholstering the seats in the little midget and have found that the passenger seat doesn't have the correct spring on the forwards<->backwards slide lever. The spring that is on it works but is too bulky which causes the lever to jam more often than not. I've been trawling the various spares and parts web sites but I can't find anywhere to purchase the spring. Any help?

Sorry, should have said, it's a 1973 Midget Mk III.

No worries - although, sadly don't think I can help you :( I'll check as soon as I can, but, you'll likely have something by then .... Good luck with the restoration though

No problem, thanks for checking though. I can find everything I need for the re-upholstery except for this damn spring unless I wanted to purchase an entire chair frame.

You may be able to rig up a suitable substitute using a spring from your local hardware store and perhaps some wire to reach to the appropriate hookup points. It's been a while since I messed with my seats, so I don't recall what the spring setup looks like. But you can purchase springs from stock in all sorts of different configurations. Just take the one from the other seat along with you when you go shopping. I've gotten lucky with O-rings and various hardware that way. Cheers, -:G:-

also, there are usually a couple of folks who are parting out MGs on Ebay, or, since you are in the UK, there might be some local scrap yards who specialize in MGs / BMC stuff? Norm

Did you get one yet?

The MGB lever is the same.

Brake shoe spring 17H7621 is a very good substitute.
