MG Midget and Sprite General - Supplies from Ashley Hinton
I am sure I have seen recommendations on the BBS from people saying how good body panels etc are from Ashley Hinton. But whenever I have tried they seem to only supply to the trade. Certainly their web-site only lists price list available to the trade. Am I missing something - do they have a separate retail side to the business?

What I have done is e mail Ashley: adsanhinton@aol.co.uk with your query / requirements. He will then reply with the price details etc and if you want to purchase he then puts it on e bay for you to purchase. HTH

Thanks Doug, Next time I am after something I will get him to quote. But I do prefer being able to browse through a parts catalogue to get ideas first.
Guy
He was supposed to be making some Sprite MkI heater controls, but I haven't seen any yet.

I've seen them sell new panels on eaby - but I'm bu99ered if I can locate his seller ID or shop !

thanks; the 'Find a member' search function is not working correctly for me

I think the last thing I got from Ashley Hinton was by emailing him on adsanhinton@aol.co.uk He replied by email and I think I sent a cheque
Nigel Atkins
I bought a load of panels from him last year, he was extremely helpful and beat **ss Eur**e prices by a mile! His phone number is 01372 456304 - I just rang him and had a chat, and everything arrived the next day! David

This is all very good - very much in line with the positive comments I had heard of Ashley Hinton before. But what still puzzles me is if you don't know what he sells, then how do you know what to ask for?
Guy
Probably why he works for himself and not others - he does it his way (and may not care to explain) he'll have, his own, good reason
Nigel Atkins
He regularly appears in Mascot area meetings - MG enthusiast etc - think he mainly supplies the trade i.e Moss ? etc, but sells also a limited amount on e bay. Hopefully some of the local MASC guys can confirm. R.

I can confirm he goes to MASC Surrey meetings at times I suppose ;) He was there (with a shiney stailessy steel heatshield for twin carbs, may have been for 1500s ISTR) on the only evening I ever visited them a few years ago I used many AH panels when I rebuilt Lara, all fitted well and still looking good after all this time I bought mine from Spridgebits though long long time ago...
Bill 1
an ebay feedback of over 10,000 is hardly a limited amount ! that's going some...
David Smith
David, Whatever. I've bought bits from him and they have been very good, with fast delivery. R.
richard boobier
oh, I totally agree, all mentions of him seem to be of the 'top class' and 'excellent' variety :-)
David Smith
They should be good as I believe that some of the parts are made using the original tooling.
Gary & Gaps
the parts I've had are good
Nigel Atkins
So is it just body panels that he sells then? That narrows it down a bit.
Guy
Guy, No he does more than panels - I know he makes seat runners, heater knobs, think the complete heater boxes, various underbonnet bits in stainless, including grilles for 1500's etc. I think he mainly supplies the trade - hense no catalogue - but also sells 'limited' items on e bay. Could try the 'sellers other items' button on e bay. R.

Also complete heater boxes

Ashley is a long time Surrey Midget and Sprite Club member (MASC). He does not have a catalogue nor advertise as it would put him in competition with those whom he supplies. He will sell off e-bay or in response to a contact either by e-mail or phone (the details as given by others on this thread). He will probably have a stall at Midget 50 as he did at Spridget 50. Occasionally he opens his factory to Midget and Sprite Club visits / tours. You will find him an encyclopedia of Spridget panel knowledge and ever so helpful. Alan Surrey / Kent Masc rep.

Hi Guy and all, if you need a list of parts we make, you can e-mail me, But I need to know what car you have the year and always put that in you e-mails to me, as I get 250 off e-mails a day, some times I get a e-mail that do not like to open as it may not have a note in the Subject: line I make about 6,000 parts for old cars The big parts are sold to Moss and AH spares, and lots more, I do put some of the small parts on ebay as some of you know, I hope you all like that. I need to do a up date of my web site, as we are making 1 to 2 new parts a week some are MG Midget some are Austin Healey Sprite If you need more help let me know, And some times you will find me at Brooklands Surrey on some Sunday's having a beer in Brookland's Elegantly decorated in a 1920's art deco theme, the Members' bar Regards Ashley Hinton
