hi,

trying to source a steering column for a 1978 MG Midget. Tried Ebay and a few other places but no joy as of yet, anyone got any ideas?

Yep but the column is not available they just use the old image to sell the consumable bits

ah, claxon it is then! I'm on a roll with dishing out less than helpful and correct advice this afternoon! Maybe I should do some work instead... :-)

When you get one make sure it's not collapsed, I got one from a well known breaker and it was lucky I measured it before I drove away as the first one they gave me was about 2 inches shorter than normal. The only thing that stops it telescoping is 2 small nylon pins, I'm sure you could replace these with a couple of plastic or nylon pins but as this is a safety feature I didn’t really want to mess with them.
