MG Midget and Sprite General - Starting Issue

I went over a large pothole in the road over the weekend. When I parked it, the car would not start. The starter motor would not engage. There was not even a click or anything. After several attempts, I opened the door, put one leg out and rolled the car back about 6 inches. Following that it started without issue. The only reason I rolled it back was I was thinking I had a flat spot on the starter, but then thinking about it it couldn't have been that because I heard nothing. It did it at the two other stops.
So now I am not sure where I should look. It seems more mechanical than something like a bad earth.
Thanks,
Allan

>>The starter motor would not engage.<<
This suggests the starter was turning but not engaging so electric power was getting to the starter

>>There was not even a click or anything.<< but this suggests that the starter did not turn so electric power may not getting to or through the starter motor

check:
