MG Midget and Sprite General - Spa Francorchamps Onboard Video (NMC)
This is a video of Marc Campfield racing a Healey 3000 at Spa recently. Marc used to race a Frogeye with the AH Club before moving up to a Big Healey. Well worth a watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD7TjvMkHK0

Great footage Dave.... I've re-posted on our Qld Sprite Club forum. There IS a Midget in there, it's either a Jacobs or John Milne's. One expensive 'bump' towards the end too.... :-( Mark.
M T Boldry
Yes Mark, I thought it looked like a Jacob's, although it looked to be blue. The E-type was never going to make it.

the dark blue Midget is now raced by John Milne's son-in-law...

That is some great looking video... It looks like HD....very clean and crisp...even the sound was electrifing. Prop

Amazing video, amazing drive. How many times did he change down for Les Combes? It sounds like three, so either he's taking it in first or he's got a 5 speed box. Looks like he rattled the silver E driver into out braking himself, I feel sorry for the chap in the green Healey. Terrific drive. Is he Paul Campfield's son? I raced against Paul in BCV8. Makes me realise I want something with more grunt than a 924.....

He must have had one bad quali! Strange to see the kamikazi action of the E-type Just shows that you do not get brains with an expensive racer

Prop, it was filmed with an i-phone, apparently. Max, yes, Paul's son.
Dave O'Neill 2
IPhone? As impressive as the drive.

Fantastic footage and an amazing display of car control and big bravery. I have put Spa back on my "must-do" list for 2012, and will watch this a few hundred more times before then.. But am I getting old, or did he take about once a lap a risk that was just a bit too much for a classic car race? I was on the edge of my seat just knowing that the car he was diving inside was likely to turn in, and that attempted pass into Eau Rouge? Jeez! Great in the "make-a-name-for-yourself" classes, but these are pricy cars with old-level safety features. And with his car's balance and speed and his obvious skills he was going to pass them all without any kamikazi stuff, I reckon. Shoot me down you racers! Andy

Nope. No bullets from me as I winced a fair few times watching that. Also saw the German Etype brake check him under the yellow in what appears like an attempt to make him pass under Yellow which as we racers know is a no no! Still, it's got me wanting to go back again!

Historic racing here takes a more gentlemanly approach than his take no prisoners driving. Did anyone snot him after the race for being overly and needlessly agressive? Love the sound track though.

You do get a fair amount of that sort of driving in Europe even in historics / old stuff, especially Spa 6 Hours. But there's also plenty of series for gentleman drivers (without the capitals) where contact is avoided at almost all costs and that type of driving would be frowned on (= not invited back). FISC/Legendary Circuits is certainly in the latter category, as is CSCC.

Absolutely great! The E type was never going to get it stopped in time for the corner. You could almost feel the tyres going off in "our" car near the end. Brilliant. Bernie.
