MG Midget and Sprite General - Shipping to UK
I am needing to ship a couple small Midget parts (less than a pound) to a bloke in the UK. No idea what the preferred method would be or how to indicate used auto parts or whatever. I do not want him to unnecessarily incur VAT charges, etc. if they are not legitimately required. No, I do not know the ins and outs of VAT and when it gets charged; sales tax is bad enough for me. Anyway, I suspect the US Post Office is probably best, but I figured someone else out there has already made these mistakes and I can benefit from their experience ;-) David "trying not to make ALL of the mistakes" Lieb

David, I shipped some stuff over for a friend there and just used a prepaid USPS package. Listed it as used auto parts and declared the value and there were no taxes or VAT involved. I used the smallest international pre paid package they had, cost around $13 as I remember. Goes slow boat or so they say, but I think it really went by air as the package arrived pretty quickly. The rules change if a business is shipping the stuff, but private citizens can ship without a lot of duty and such for small value items and not have to go through all the customs forms. The only form I filled out was a declaration form similar to what you get on an airplane and that was part of the shipping label at the post office.

Bill Issnt that the same friend that recently became homeless without a mention or word....LOL Sorry...just kidding seriously ...can you still ship up to 70 lbs ...if it fits, it ships, or is that just domestic only... that is a good post office program.

Prop, The weight limits for domestic are very different from the ones for international, but yes, this is the eBayer's choice ;-) David "yes, something good from the USPS" Lieb
