MG Midget and Sprite General - Sebring project

Hi
Following ,much help from the forum ref engine choice and other things thought i would post my car so far

Little bit further on than picture now , bonnet fitted and just being prepared for paint

Love the pictures of the 8 port at the Ace cafe , I have the same head planning to fit

Still loads to do and a year to get this far but its starting to get there

Rob Newt if your reading would appreciate if you could drop me an e mail I think im planning the same brakes as you and wouldn't mind discussing them

Thanks
Andy

Looking good Andy!

Just wanted to point out...if you're thinking of fitting anything other than than the original 'fold-forward' MkI Sprite seats, then you'll need to cut away the top of the rear shroud (similar to the MkII Sprite).

Otherwise if you do fit fixed lightweight glass fibre seats (Healey type for example), then you won't be able to retrieve the spare wheel.

Have you decided on a colour yet?

Jonathan,

many thanks , yes it's starting to take shape , more progress this week , bonnet on and all light holes drilled and rear screen fitted.

Colour is going to be gun metal grey same as PMO200, was a toss up between that and the colour of 410. Taking a few of the ideas from each of the original sebrings that I have seen , twin fuel pumps and switch panel from EAO410.

Thanks for the steer on the shroud, I am planning to cut down as it was on yours if i remember rightly and use the fixed healey seats , just got to check if the spare wheel will pass through the rear roll cage now !!

With regards to the fule pump i purchased a midget one but it looked different to the one you used which had brass unions on it instead of the plastic pipes , did you use two of the mgb ones ? if you had any idea of the su pump no would be great

Congratulations on selling your Sebring , a great car and im sure it has made someone very happy

Regards
Andy

Is it just me thinking this Andy...but would it have not been better to fit the rear window after you have had it painted?
Looking good though, keep the pics coming.
Rob Newt

Rob,

Exactly right i should have written trial fitted just to make sure it does , all being removed before paint , a long process but will be so much better in long run.

Thanks for the help with the brakes on the phone , one thing i forgot to ask , have you fitted something to balance them ? and if so what and where ?

Thanks
Andy
Andy Chaffey

Andy
Thought I would need a bias valve due to the increased rear braking efficiency but with the increased efficiency in fiiting the front Kad callipers everything is nicely balanced from front to rear (for me anyway) depends what your doing with the car when its finished but I cant see you doing too much autograssing!
More pictures please?
