MG Midget and Sprite General - Rustoleum Rust Reformer

A bit of a tounge twister for a title!

There are a few threads about rusty body shells active at the moment so here is another one on a sort of similar topic!

Has anyone ever heard of or tried "Rustoleum Rust Renovator"?

http://rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=40

I saw it in B&Q this evening (in a different style can to the above link). It was a similar sort of price to a can of bog standard metal primer so I thought I would see what it was like.

Anyone else seen or used it?!

Cheers,

Is that the one you spray on and it converts the rust to a black primer,I used a similar one by duped, on my truck frame last year.... It needs a recoat but held up for a year okay

aye Prop, its a matt black colour primer. I guess I shouldn't paint my entire car in it...

I've never used it but I have used something called Rust Mort.

http://www.semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=164

It has the consistency of water and you brush it on. Turns the rust black and than you primer it. I've only used it recently so I don't know how well it works in the long run but the guy who recommended it has used it for years and is very happy with it. Good for superficial rust, just clean off the loose pieces and apply. Let it dry 24 hours and paint.

Paint the whole.car ....mmmmm,

well id get some kind of advertisement cash for it and offer it up as a tv commercial for the product....aside from that, it might be time for a new shell.,,,cause that's.a lot of rust....lol

As you guys have been of help to me, perhaps I can help back, as my email name may explain, the product you mention is good but there is another one called Super Ruscon by Dacrylate, Can be a little pricy but most of us will split tins as the full 1 lt bottle will paint a barge, Clean off heavy rust (wire brushing prefered)coat over, 2 hours later ready for priming, May i also recomend a Zinc rich paint as this tends to be almost liquid galvanising with a Zinc content above 90% (its a bugger to weld through though after)
Please inform me if this is classed as unlicenced advertising as I do not wish to cause problems

Sounds like advice to me

Brian it's nice to have someone who knows make advice and advertising wasn't there as everyone normally sticks some name in!

Where do you get this from?
rachmacb

Try the Dacrylate web site http://www.dacrylate.co.uk/dacmix.htm
Dont look at west yorkshire now that would be advertising
But by all means email me if i can be of help, not all companys will sell small quantities of paint but some of us will and be happy to do so.

Thank you :)
