MG Midget and Sprite General - Rollover bar recommendation

Since I'm on a roll with this question asking stuff :) I was wondering who had any recommended rollover bars for a '72 Midget. I saw frontline advertise a "rear rollcage" - does anyone know what this is and have any opinions.

I'm not a racer, but do occasionally run round a track for fun. I'd just like something that might give me a small chance in the case I end up with my hooves in the air.

I've got a Safety Devices rear roll cage in my 1975 Midget 1500...

Mine's the rear cage with no diagonal bar. Not had to test it yet (!) but it certainly stiffens the shell a fair amount!

Thanks for the feedback. My biggest problem seems to be the prohibitive shipping charges it takes to get these things to France... :(

If shipping is expensive - why not drive over and have it fitted to your car in the UK and drive back to France?

SD cages are prohibitive shipping in UK too, it's how they keep prices down!

Whereabouts in France are you? I may have to come across to Calais soon, perhaps I could help.

From what I've seen advertised most of the available street bars lack a few of the features that a good safe race bar would have and would need modification for good protection in a racing environment or even for track days. Why don't you consider getting a bar custom built for you by a race car shop in France. You can then tailor it to the exact height you want and have the diagonal bar added to the correct side for use on French roads instead of the right side as in GB. You can also have a harness anchor bar added and I like the idea of a "Petty Bar" or forward brace from the top center of the roll bar to the passenger side footwell area. That's basically what I did on my car.
