MG Midget and Sprite General - Rolling road results
| Hi, I took the Midget to see Peter Burgess this morning and came back very happy! 1st run was 69.1 BHP at the wheels (86 at the flywheel) and 83.9 ft lbs of torque. After a file of the needle and some dizzy adjustment I now have 74.8 BHP at the wheels (93 at the flywheel) and 86.7 ft lbs of torque. Engine spec: 1275 +30 with skimmed block and 11cc dished pistons MG Metro cylinder head Maniflow single box exhaust and manifold HIF44 on Titan inlet manifold Piper HR270 cam The car picks up quicker and feels sharper. The printout comparison shows an improvement all across the revs on both BHP and torque. Also found that my tach is reading approx 500-1000rpm too fast and the speedo is approx 10mph too fast. A big thanks to Peter for what he has done. See attached pic for copy of printout and link below for you tube vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCi9UYBuEkw Thanks Mark

| And as a comparison heres a printout from my visit to Aldons a while back. I has the same engine spec with the exception of twin HS2's instaed of the HIF44 and the cam timing was 7 degrees retarded. Thanks Mark

| Sounds like a trip well worth! Makes me want to finish my engine faster |

| I sent off an email about booking a session end of last week (after getting exhaust reprositioned and sealed, hopefully) so seeing this is gratifying - of course it'll be a different story with my car(s) as it always is |

| Hi Nigel at home now so easier to post on thread than email via weblogin! I have booked you in for 1.30pm Wednesday 8th June....you are wrong, the price of £80 plus bits is for the session not per hour :) mind you I will never be rich! Peter |

| Hi Peter, thanks for that you might regret having a fixed price when me and the Midget turn up (although the wife will be happy to hear this) I've got traders to increase their prices before, to get rid of bad and awkward customers - then been the first to be charged the new higher prices I'll show you how much I paid last time, of course they may well, and rightly, say they've do the setting up already - be interesting to see as I've only changed the manifold and exhaust system to a different make since then, but it's better system (and of course regular servicing !) I know we'll be looking at the lower scales of your gauges and I'll be running on 95 ready for the holiday tours I'm looking foward to the RR and meetng you, might have to make a day of it and drive my wife to drink(s) |

| Nigel I think it is fair to say that Peter will transform your car as well as he did with mine all those years ago. Even after we had to trace a phantom rattle which wasn't the tappets (bet he's forgotten that one) I have a similar spec to Mark's car and the journey home was remarkably more fun than the journey there The car and I have been to Le Mans many times since then and the car has stayed quick, lively and economical (very) |

| Cheers Bill, I like the >>and the car has stayed quick, lively and economical (very)<< bit very much The car's already been to an expert RR tuner (at a much higher cost) and the car has issues and is in the possesion of a most unlucky car owner and the engine's not the best recon ever done (if it was, I think it feels like it was) - so I'm not expecting big increases In fact this'll be the third time the car's been on the rollers since I bought it Last time someone else wanted my reserved slot but I decided not to let it go as things have a habit of falling apart because of delays (it's happened to me many times) I expect poor Peter will now break a leg or something just because I've booked in - please take care Peter If there's interest I'll post results to show realistic figures for a fairly standard 1275 engine set up (that's been fully and properly serviced of course) |
