MG Midget and Sprite General - Restoration Progressing at LAST!!!
| After 18 months, I think(!) I've finished all the main welding needed on the frog!!!! I've actually started spraying the engine bay, just got to get into the boot and clean up in there, what fun :+( All I've got to do now is rebuild the engine, sort out the leaking rear axle, clean and paint all the ancilleries including the front suspension, fit a new windscreen, try to make the wipers work better, get a new clutch and fit it, then fit everything back and finally make a wiring loom. Hmm, not a lot left then ;+(( Never mind just keep slogging along. Graham |

| Just keep going and all of a sudden you'll be finished. |

| Eight years we've had a Midget in the garage as work in progress, just other things came along and took precedence. However three weekends ago my eldest and I started fettling and now it's a completely stripped shell, all the suspension has been refurbed, painted and is now sat on the shelves waiting to go back on the shell. I've just got to steel myself to get the welding done towards the rear of the car. Whilst the spring hanger themselves look fine and solid the panels behind the seats need replacing and when those are cut out who knows what we'll find. I daren't actually slow the momentum down as we may never get going again and I don't want it languishing there for another 8 years. So we'll get another few hours in this morning before the GP. |

| Just for interests sake, here's a pic of the engine bay after spraying the main rails, etc. The areas in grey primer will be painted in the body colour of "Old English White". Not a lot of room, as you can see. Graham

| Wow Graham. That is a tight space. I hope you had a good mask on if you painted it in there! As Alex says, keep going and you'll get to a stage where you will think "Wait a minute, I'm nearly there" and things just seem to come together all of a sudden. bernie. |

| Bit more room when it is rotated on the rotisserie :+) Graham.

| I'm continually amazed at how you guys seem to restore an entire car in what appears to be a closet. I feel cramped in my 20x20 garage. |

Just got my first layer of top coat on to the engine bay, yipee!

| Looks very good. I love it when you get to the "sticking it all together again" stage after painting. Are you fittting the later style pedal box? If so very wise for updatbng now rather than later. More pictures please :) |

| Bill, I actually converted to the later pedal box shortly after I got the car, as th P.O. had bodged up a system using a mini master cylinder as per the picture below! Wasn't good, looked awful and performed very badly. If you would like to see other pictures of the work, please copy & paste this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150163987561736.302298.583406735&l=f0e4f9204c&type=1 Graham.
