MG Midget and Sprite General - rally plaques
Where is it possible to get some rally plaques made in small quantities for example less than ten for a small club tour?
A Anstead
I'm only guessing, don't know for sure but for that amount you'd possibly be best printing and laminating something of your own make and design yourselves

did you mean plastic or metal?
Gary & Gaps
plastic Gary. Like the ones I usually use. Supplier no longer in business. Alan.
A Anstead
Home printer and laminating machine?
Gary & Gaps
echo Gary :) can you get rally plaques from your club HQ?
N Atkins
Does anyone have a template/ example of a rally plaque (size & shape)? We don't see them over here and they'd be a nice touch for one of our club events. How are they secured to the car? Any info greatly appreciated. Tim

We looked at having some made for our event, but could not find any stateside shops that already had a cutting die, and the die-charge was too much for our smallish event.

they come in various shapes and sizes but normally a horizontal rectangle with a curved top about half to three quarters the length of the top edge (hope than makes sense) they're usually of plastic so can be printed on, or stencilled on, or separate characters stuck on or just written or drawn on usually they have four holes, at the corners, that long tie-wraps/cable-ties go through to attach to bumpers but this doesn't work for all vehicles especially if the plates are not small enough as they can cover part of the numberplate or obscure an indicator or partially block a radiator if I can find or take a photo I'll put it up later today

| Tim, Here you go... I designed this one for Midget 50 recently. Not sure of the exact size - approx. 10" wide? Jonathan

| Tim, I have one from Burleigh House thanks to the kindness of Rachael Macabe. I can measure it if you wish. As for suppliers on this side of the pond I haven't a clue. Most sign shops carry a plastic type of corrugated board that would be good for the base material. The one I got was on a thinner plastic type of card stock, definitely waterproff though. It was attached to the car by plastic zip ties either around the bumper or as I did on my car through the grill. To keep costs down I suggest making the actual plaques rectangular and then printing the information in the correctly shaped area, much like the photo posted by Jonathan. That would eliminate the need for a special die. As you can see they are a little narrower than our liscense plates and just a bit taller. Attachment was through 4 holes already punched in the corners of the plaque.

What we are calling plaques/plates one company at least seems to call ‘Monte Carlo Style Rally Boards’ - http://www.rallyplaques.com/products.php I’ll also email a small tour organiser and see what they can tell me sizes of ‘boards’ from various events and organisers overall width by height in millimetres (very large) 465 x 190 (usual, around) 250 x 155 (small) 230 x 100 the first one I ever got appears to had been trimmed (cut?) by hand and is quite thick and stiff plastic

A, I've sent the email for info but have a feeling that the person is away if your going to the NEC you could have a look there, I've not seen any suppilers but I've never been looking

You can always give http://www.dragonflyhouse.co.uk/rallyplates.html a look They do all sorts of regalia stuff (no I'm not connected, just one of the companies I checked out for supplies a few years ago when I had things to do in a Car Club)

Thanks for the info, guys. Having the general dimensions will help. I have access to a professional colour printer and a laminating machine, so I'll give it a go myself. Cheers

I have been told about your plight from an avid MG Member and has told me to offer my services. I can provide rally plaques as either plastic (for the bumper)... or magnetic (for the bonnet, and later on fridge/garage door) these both retail at £10 plus P&P per plaque. If a larger quantity is ordered then the price comes down per unit. The plaques can be any shape (as long as they are not intricate) and be around A4 in size. I can also supply smaller fridge magnets. I hope this is of some help and pass the word around. Cheers nick nick_stanley@lineone.net or 07964 585 142
