MG Midget and Sprite General - Owners in the 'Sates'

I’ve got a question,,, I see that most of the MG Midget contributors to this great forum are from the UK, Norway, Scotland, etc, and not many from the USA,, Any idea why there are not as many from over here???? If there are some from the “States”, are any of them going to the CT MG Clubs “British By The Sea Gathering”? Midget is the Marque of the Year,,,

STEVE WINCZE

Steve, I think if you hang about long enough, you'll find quite a lot of contibutions come from the USA on this great BBS...

Steve,
I think you will find that the Spritespot forums are predominantly subscribed to by folk from your side of the waters.

That site and a great amount of posts on the MG Experience forum and the British Car Forum. A bit more activity on the MG Experience forum in my opinion. http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/list.php?3
Several of us who post here also post on that board.

And, how could you possibly not include your own, dear, Prop - who must count as at least 100 Brits ... :)

You have not noticed Prop?

HAhaha... Here I am !!!

Steve,

You have to understand this site is vary differant from other spridget forums... like the other spridget forums this place becomes a ghost town in late spring and early fall... esp more so then the others.

we are alot differant then the others in that everyone here ... maybee an excption of 2-3 if that many are all builders, restore or devolopers in some way or another wheather it be at the shade tree level or the docterates degree level

if you do a side by side comparision of out tech arcives to other spridget forums, you will see what I mean, we tend to get into the nitty gritty spec work , while other sites tend to just fix the problem.

a survay was taken maybe about a year ago, about what occupation people had that where members of this site... an overwhelming majority had heavy back grounds in enginneering, the next level was a military mechanical background in fighter aircraft, submerians, and nucular power, the next level was race car related, nationally and internationally known devolopers and builders ... one even a aerodinamisc expert for a formula 1 race team.

then the last levels are people like me.. the creative type that sits in awe of these great (and humble) marvals of human excellance and try to pick up the floor scraps of new ideas they leave behind to build upon.

So are the yanks really lacking... not really, we just have had alot better weather recently that has allowed us to get into the shops faster thern our across the pond breathern. come late july when its 122 degrees heat index in the shade... you wont be able to post fast enough to keep up with the converstions of new ideas.

Don't forget about us here in Canuckistan!! (Canada) Russ is also here and is a transplant from the UK I believe.
Clive Reddin

The Northwestern US is represented here by myself and Martin and a couple others.
As Prop so humbly put it, we just kind of soak it all in a lot and post inanities quite a bit.

Rick Bastedo

As Clive said, there are a few of us up here in the great white north, I would love some warmer weather though!!
RUS(59SPRITE)

I'm up here on the west of Canada. I'm only an infrequent visitor for now. I sold my midget a few years ago but have acquired a frogeye project. It's still (literally !) in boxes for now until I finish my TR4 which will hopefully be this week. Then I'll be hanging around here asking questions a bit more often!!

Welcome to the BBS. In my opinion much better than the rest!

P.S. I'm also and ex military fighter jet engineer!!!
Paul Barnes

Steve, I have a friend who lives in Meriden and has a couple of Spridgets. He usally posts on the Moss forum but I haven't talked to him in quite a while. His name is Davey, he'll probably be at the show if his schedule will allow.

Bear in mind that the Lejog is about the same distance as from me to the CT event mentioned above, so I doubt I will be there. OTOH, the US version of the Midget 50th is in July at Road America and would be worth your while to attend. Details available at www.sprite-midgetclub.org

As indicated above, there is a wealth of Spridget resources available and this one is a bit of an acquired taste perhaps.
