MG Midget and Sprite General - Our MINI Does the Dragon (NMC)
| My wife and I took a road trip from our home town of St. Charles, Missouri to Asheville, North Carolina back in July. Enroute I couldn't resist taking an alternate route so we could drive the Tail of the Dragon. Amazing... for those of you who aren't familiar with the Dragon, it's an 11-mile stretch of Route 129 near Deal's Gap, NC, that comprises over 300 curves, and the whole plot passes through some spectacular mountain forest scenery. This stretch of road is well-respected by motorcyclists and car buffs, and it was a treat to finally get to carve the corners in the MINI, which is eminently suited to such shenanigans. Turns out that all cars passing through the Dragon are photographed by the "official" snappers of the Dragon, Killboy.com. They then offer digital files of these pics on their website, and we ordered four of the best views of our car. One's below... if you want to see the other three, I've posted them on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/safety_fast/sets/72157627351534112/ -:G:-

| I love the roads in that area. I've had both my midget and my Sprite on the Tail of the Dragon. Unfortunately, I get car sick ... even when I'm driving. |

| Lovely area isn't it Gryf. Was there in May with the British V8 group and had a ball even if it did rain most of the time. Didn't do the Dragon with them but did make a run up another nice mountain road and posted video on U Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncUxo4GqBkg The video is titled Drive to Metcalf Bottoms and is in two parts. |

| The Biltmore is a great place to visit, but if you're in that area the really cool stop is Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. Dale is a super cool guy,and the antique bikes are beyond cool. There is always Dollywood, and the Indian reservation. Just thought I'd chime in. |

| Hi again, all. Yes, the Biltmore was actually our main destination and we spent two days there. Just fascinating... we're both into history, and it was a treat not only to see the house, but to learn something about the Vanderbilts and their era. One of my Biltmore pictures below... funny, you can't take a picture of the house that doesn't end up looking like a postcard. :-) More trip pics here, if anybody's interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/safety_fast/sets/72157627061891197/ You can't take photos inside, hence all the exterior shots. -:G:-
