As you know, my big amp died last night, so I found one on craigslist super cheap, so I got it hooked up, along with the in line driver amp, and OMG, My speakers are Thumping like grandmaster B, hahaha, it just sounds amazing, rich, crisp and clear

Whats really cool, no car radio, no car antenna, around 5000 radio stations world wide, the scan disk card can hold around 3000 songs,and when I go into the store, I just put the phone in my pocket, nothing to steal...so now I got tunes for the 8 hour drive to wisconsin

Wow...you guys have had smart / I phones scence 1990 AND getting rid of the car radio in place of the smart phone....

I guess I am an old man...

in 1993 my cell phone came in a black leather bag and wieghed around 10 pounds...but it did have the built in 3 ring binder :) :)

Ive just installed a radio in my midget, I have no clue what you wizkids are talking about, portable phones?
I think ive seen some in Miami-Vice, are they out for the public yet??

Using an amps phono/line in connections as a direct connection from source whether it be mp3, cd player, sony walkman, one of those 1.5" pocket TV's etc is old hat.

However, its always nice when something works that never really gripped you before - I unfortunately did the whole boyracer scene and had my boot full of subs and amps before realising all they did was slow you down :P

Jokes aside, seriously that pretty much what I intend to do once I get my car sorted.... If I get my car sorted.

Where do you put your smartphone whilst playing?

I'm thinking about getting a nice smaller type of motorcycle saddlebag to put over the shaft tunnel since my fivespeed put the gearlever a bit further back it's ideal!
Will put the amp in the booth, pull the cable under the rug and make a hole in one of the bags from the back just to get the phone and cable out of the way.

Where do you have the speakers and what kind are they. I have one in the console and the other under the passenger seat, but really would like to have something a little better. I just can't get into making a mess of the doors or back tray. Though I would like some better sound than I have now
Can you be a bit more specific on the setup.

I used 6x9s rockford fosgates in the panal between the boot and the cock pit,,,, like everyine does

Luckly, before I installed the carpet I ran a amp wiring kit which consist of a thick fused power wire and a remote signal wire, along side the passangerside sill (usa) and into the boot

I used speaker boxes in the boot to cover the back sides of the speakers I mounted a piece of 1x 12 wood pine to the 2 speaker boxs at the center, then mounted the big amp and the little in line driver pac 10 amp to that

The wiring....

on the big amp ...there is a place for ground, main power, remote signal power, speaker hook ups and a red / white rca jacks radio hook up

The pac 10 in line driver amp has a red / white rca jack, a power and a ground and a 3.5 mm right / left headphone jack

To hook up...
I ran main power wire from batt to amp remote signal wire I hooked to a toggle switch and assocary power wire to the amp, used hing for a ground wire connection to big amp, then wired the 2 speakers to the amp, then connected the sets of of rca jacks from driver to big amp, wired the power wire of the driver amp to th to the remote signal wire and the grond of the big amp and the druver amp togather, pluged in a ipod ear phone extension wire into thw driver amp and ran the other end under the speaker panal to the center tunnel consel which plugs into the I phone / smartphone headphone jack.

Just plug in the phone to the headphone coard, flip the toggle pull up the radio app on the iphone, use the volume on the Iphone


You need a mini amp for the big amp, there are several types...im usimg whats called a driver amp, the reason for this, the phone only puts out 1/2 volt of power, a car radio around 5 volts so you need to booost the signal of the phone for the big amp to hear it ...some amps will work with out the mini amp but it dosnt sound as good.

You can do the same with ipod as well

Important not...make sure the headphone jack wire has 2 bands on its connection, that means its stereo, 1 band is mono

So far what little ive used it, I just lay the phone in the passanger seat....but ill tuck the wires away and make a nice holder for it later on when I get back from midget 50
