MG Midget and Sprite General - Number plate light plinth

Should my '63 Sprite (mk2, disc brake car) have a number plate light plinth?

I've never had one on during my 22 years with the car but I've just found one in my spares stash. It's not necessarily from mine as I've bought 'lots' of spares over the years and it may have come in one of those.

Technically, yes.

If you have a stick-on plate, you can get away with fitting the light directly to the body, but with standard number plate arrangement, you need a bit of reach to illuminate it properly.
