"Ferraris rarely travel in such large numbers." And obviously that is a good thing.

Had a new'ish Maserati pass us late on Saturday afternoon on a closed toll road like we were driving through a school zone. The clock on our B/GT was reading 70 mph, and we were just keeping up with traffic. Funny thing is, with electronic toll collection you could easily be timed between toll booth's given they know the time you enter and exit any section of road. Figure they also have your name, address, and car it is issued to so a violation could be mailed out promptly. If it weren't that our local politicians are doing the same, they might be demanding something be done about this!) Regards, Larry C. '74 B/GT & '69 Midget

Larry, what some do on the toll roads in France is to lose time at the first or last toll or somewhere inbetween by pulling over - so I'm told Some of the French Police are pleased to see foriegn cars, especially classics, going fast - but some others don't! the speed limit reduces there if it rains and I think the Police get stricter then I've always had the advantage of the early warning verbal handbrake

>>early warning verbal handbrake<< I've got one of those, she's set to about 90...

I'm usually the one content driving with the flow of traffic, whatever that works out to be. My wife is the one who drives the B/GT well over the speed limit, claiming the car likes to settle in at around 80 mph. When we travel with our car club if I don't act as the "handbrake" she leaves everyone in her dust. L.C.

mine's nearer 90kph, sometimes though on boring dual-carriageways and motorways I go slower than the verbal handbrake's limit and that seems to cause a buzzing Larry, I'm afraid that probably reflects more on classic car club members than your wife, they so rarely drive their cars they've no idea how to fully drive it or what the car is capable of if it was driven regularly I led the way out on a Triumph Stag club run once on a nice 60 mph B-road in my wallowy (by British standards) Rover saloon (sedan) and I had to stop a couple of times to let them catch up as they seemed incapable of going above 50 mph even on the straightest bits I think a lot of times the age of the occupants and shininess of the car means a sports-style car that will potter along - which is fine but I think they're missing out on another aspect of their car's ownership

Nigel, LOL. Yes, mostly B-Roads here as well. When I check the my passenger door mirror looking back for the group I tell her, better slow down the group behind keeps looking smaller and smaller, she laughs! Regards, Larry C.
