MG Midget and Sprite General - New inner and outer sills?

I am replacing the inner and outer sill on my 1500 midget does anyone know of the best/cheapest place to buy these from? Or anyone have any new/old panels kicking around they want rid of?
C Carter

Did this last year and got them from Sussex classics. good fit and a good price. Ashley Hinton panels rather than BMH but I've never had any problems with them.

Ally said something about getting them cheaper than the MGBhive somewhere - but I just got them from there coz I don't have to pay postage :)!

Its postage that I think is killing me to be honest the inner and outer sill seem fine on cost but postage adds quite a bit. The good news is I have checked the drivers side and it seems solid. Does anyone have a diagram to show how the rear spring hanger area meets up with the bulkhead and inner sill?
C Carter

An extract from a popular (you have taken Nigel's advice here I hope) parts manual shows the area in an exploded form

Inside the triangular box section there are some very heavy duty truncated triangle sections that give the section its stiffness and the actual box section that springs are held in show here

I didn't have any more than this (my original M+ss spares book was different to this one but still gave me enough to work with) when I did mine, I think you will be able to see what happens when you get started.

Re: postage

Have you tried asking at your local car spares emporium for the panels you need?

They may be able to obtain for you and their trade price (always ask "Is that price trade?") may enable you to buy at less than cost plus dispatch.

They may blow you out too, but if you don't ask...

Graeme your pics have helped me out no end, I was trying to figure out why there was no side panels to the hanger area so to speak but now realise its because I need a new hanger. Job looks straight forward enough just need to cut out all the crap and start again.

Aye, some useful pics, a job I will be tackling (hopefully) before it gets too cold this year.
