MG Midget and Sprite General - Moss Miata seat covers lacking

I recently took a look at what Moss has to offer in the way of Miata seat covers.

They carry 59 different covers in 5 different materials, most at resonable prices.

The problem I'm having is that ALL 59 covers are the same color. Black.

Yes I realize that the 35 different Neoprene covers come in 2 tone, however, blue, red, tan or Hawaiian, the only 2nd color available is.......Black.

When I enquired, the salesman explained that black was the only color available?

So much for covering my seats from Moss.

Phil. I used the Moss MGB seat covers for two cars. Not bad, but they do not hold up all that well here in the Arizona desert. On three other cars, I had the upholstery shop make up custom covers for about the same cost as the Moss covers. They were made with the exact colors I wanted, had cloth in the area you are sitting on (does not get hot enough to burn you as vinyl and leather will here), and were made from materials that the upholstery people knew would hold up well under these conditions.

If the Moss covers do not fit your needs, check out some custom made covers. You might be surprised at how affordable they can be.

Les,
I have found little for under $300.00, and since I was ordering some gaskets from Moss, I asked them to include a Miata catalog on a whim.

I know they usually are pricey, and i buy thru lbcarco.com On cover their prices are decent, however their selection is nonexistant.

Phil. It was several years ago that I had the last work done. At that time, I was paying Moss about $300 for a set of two seat covers. The upholstery shop charged $350 to make and install custom covers. The custom covers are holding up much better than the Moss covers, probably due to the better quality of materials used. I have deal with the same upholstery shop, for car and household items, for a number of years and have a good relationship with them. Hence, their advice to use upgraded materials which are holding up much better in our very hot summers. The cloth inserts in the seating areas are much, much more comfortable to slide into, both winter and summer, than the vinyl areas on the factory style covers. I went with factory style covers on my Limited Edition (to maintain originality) and on my GT (did not yet know there were better covers at about the same price), but will continue to use the custom covers in the future. The by year cost of the custom covers makes them less expensive than the factory style covers. At least the ones I obtained from Moss.

I know what you mean phil it's hard to find orange and purple seat covers
I think you will be better off finding a pro to make them the seat covers a fairly simple and basic especially if you go with a austin healy sprite version where is just 5 vertical seems in the back section
a pro could make those in a couple of hours in any color or material you wanted
