MG Midget and Sprite General - Mk1 Sprite Photographic Database is down

It looks as if the database host fotopic have gone into liquidation which means that my site is lost.
I have all the images (2000+) saved and the text is also saved as a word document, including all the feedback plus previous and current owner's comments.
However this was nearly two years work and it's going to take me a long time to rebuild it especially as there is no other images handling site out there which would allow me to do what I did with fotopic.
I'm fairly lucky as there are professional photographers who were using it who had more than 300,000 each and who used it as a major part of their business.
Now warning from the company at all and it would have been simple for them to send out an email to all of their paying customers (like me).

That is tragic. I am sorry to hear that and you have all my sympathy for the hours of work down the pan so unnecessarily as you say.

Have they appointed Receivers then? Surely the data still exists somewhere. Is there no way of getting access via the Receiver?

On the basiss that at the moment there is no way of comunicating with them, I'll have to sit and wait. There is a fairly good forum discussing it at the moment but any action is going to take a long time.

All the extra work isn't exactly what you need just now, but at least you have the text and images saved.

Gary, Thats a real bummer.
Could Google's Picasa be an alternative given (hopefully) Google is not about to go belly up?

many thanks for your deedback and also for the more specific offer of help from Peter.
I have to work on the magazine all this week but will try to get my head around all this once the April Mascot is put to bed.
To be honest I'm finding the idea of rebuilding the whole thing very daunting but I will get it sorted over the next few months.

Hi Gary - I'm a bit tied up today and tomorrow with my fathers funeral but I can give you a very similar setup to fotopic as I used to use them before I moved to hosting my own.
