Can there be any country more beautiful than Yorkshire? And can there be any better way to view it than from the cockpit of a Midget? Mothy, thanks again for making me very, very jealous. -:G:-
Gryf Ketcherside
yeap jealous here too, I know those roads, not too strenuous for the Bs amongst the pack :) nice to see the hood folded correctly too :) but what a club that wont let you stop for a quick half at a lovely country pub - giving you a chance to pass all those Bs again :)

"Can there be any country more beautiful than Yorkshire?" As much as everyone from Yorkshire would like to think so, it is not actually it's own country. It isn't really in the North either, not when you live in Aberdeen ;-) Will have a proper look at the pics when I get home tonight. Cheers, Malcolm

I was there, and I'm jealous of the pictures. All of ours are mostly blurry... Those are great, was a fab day :)
Rob Armstrong
And I am kicking myself for not turning out! Almost at my back door as well. Grr! Looks like you had a great day on some of the bestest of roads too. Guy
Guy
You and me both Guy. I spent Sunday in the pishing rain on the Northumberland coast :(

"Can there be any country more beautiful than Yorkshire?" Gryf, have you observed the pictures closly? Its cloudy and everybody wears winterjackets, scarfs and caps... in august!! in the summer!!! Dont even want to know what their winters are like. :) Its said that ... because of the lack of clear sunlight Yorkshire has the biggest population of vampires in Europe as can also go out during the day. Its said that ... forget it, I can go on like this for hours but in short: Yorkshire is a horrible dark and wet place, horrible, horrible and horrible. Its so horrible that ive comming to yorkshire twice a year since 2007. Its horrible, and just to make sure its still horrible im going over again in december. ;) Looks like a great run and that you guys have enjoyed yourselfs!

| You keep telling them, Arie! It's "horrid" here, we don't want to share it with anyone we don't have to... actually, you're right in the afternoon it was quite cold, but I did manage about an hour in my t-shirt. Incidentally, we passed a few of your friends on the moors - you can see them standing behind the k-midget having a mid-morning snack :o)

There were definitely some that looked suspiciously like Arie... ;) :P

Great photos, beautiful countryside. Where I live in Essex County, it's as flat as a day old pancake. The only major elevation we have is the local landfill. Fortunately, across the river is S/E Michigan, which has some great topography, hills, lakes, twisty country roads, all thanks to the glaciers. I was in the Newcastle area last April and enjoyed a glorious week touring north to Scotland and south to Bury St. Edmunds. Fantastic! Next trip I want to rent a VW camper & tour the country.

The county more beautiful that Yorkshire.... Northumberland hands down!! Even in the rain! Then I'm somewhat biased. Northumberland is my home!! Love Yorkshire as well though! Paul

Arie, you think yorkshire is bad? My girlfriend got back from a weekend in Amsterdam yesterday and said it rained heavily aaaaallllllll the time from friday to monday. I even here the place has the largest population of people with webbed feat! ;-) Malcolm
M Le Chevalier
wow, half asleep when posting that. here = hear, feat = feet. Oh, and Monday and Friday should have capital letters! Off to make a coffee! Malcolm
M Le Chevalier
Malcom, your right about last weekend, its was not normal how many rain we had, especialy sunday was extreme. Nothing wrong with webbed-feet, its evolution, the Dutch-tribe is moving on!!

I left Yorkshire 5 years ago to live in West Australia. It is beautiful here, the sea is light blue, the sky is nearly always bright blue, and it is greener than I expected. but I miss dry stone walls, and fields, and bridges, and houses more than 20 years old. I miss bright sunny days in the dales, with the roof down, and the noise echoing off the walls. Oh, and I am back there a week on Tuesday. Goodwood and Yorkshire.

If you've got time, it would be good to meet up Shawn, drop me an email

At Goodwood, or in sunny Yorkshire?
Shawn
>>> As much as everyone from Yorkshire would like to think so, it is not actually it's own country. <<< Right, I guess I meant "countryside." :-) >>> The county more beautiful that Yorkshire.... Northumberland hands down!! Even in the rain! <<< I shouldn't argue with that, being as we Ketchersides apparently originated in Northumberland: http://catcheside.com/ The ancestral home is still there... seen here with cars parked alongside: http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=55.182793200816256~-2.014127900829492&lvl=19&dir=0&sty=h&form=LMLTCC Also seen here: http://catchie.tribalpages.com/tpphotos/fullphotos/catchie_119834.jpg So while I'd thoroughly enjoy a drive through Yorkshire, the trip would have to include a jaunt up to the old house. Perhaps they'd remember me... :-) Pardon the diversion, -:G:-

Yorkshire Shawn I'm afraid - can't afford Goodwood this year...
