MG Midget and Sprite General - Midget 50 Rockerbox Racing Videos

A couple of videos showing a first round heat between Bob Welch and Richard Boobier...

and Bob's second heat against 'Goofy'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MI8rj4bP34

...which surprised everyone watching when 'Goofy' was declared the winner. Goofy went on to win in the final round.

Great racing and some good cars.
Goofy was a very good car but as can quite clearly be seen not quick enough. LOL

I like everyone else knew my car had won but there seems to be a rule that none of us were aware of?

I wonder why goofy was declared the winner? did I have an email somewhere, let me have a look LOL

But we had a great laugh didn't we? great stuff!

Wait for MGlive we can have a re-match!

Thanks Dave much appreciated

I forgot to mention - Bob's car is the one nearest the camera in both heats.
Dave O'Neill 2

I went to see what was going on at the appointed hour but there were just two small girls in pink coats playing with wheeled toys on the ramps. I don't think either was called Bob, although since I have never met him I could have been mistaken.

Clearly, I missed all the hyped up excitement!
Guy

I missed it all too :(

Sorry I didn't get to see your car in the flesh Bob,

(Didn't see you either)

I hope you have better luck with it at MGLive

In that 1st heat, wjen the car brushed the wall ... I thought for sure it was going to be a repeat of that audi crash a day ago at le mans,,,,seriously dangerous stuff, im glad everyome survived
Prop

Well turned out race cars, you gentlemen should be quite proud of your achievements. Great racing, but a bit quick to the finish. Sort of like a modern drag race in the quickest classes. 4 seconds and it's over. For the most part our rocker box races are a bit longer over on this side. An eight foot long ramp and then another 18 to 24 feet of track before the finish.

Some of the races over here are a bit longer too, but don't forget...Bob has a turbo!
Dave O'Neill 2

Yep right Bill a longer track would be great but someone needs to make it. The MGCC at MGLIVE are running a rocker box race in 2 weeks time, I was trying desperately to get volenteers to build us a new track for that event, you never know they may do. :)

As you say most builders must have spent hours preparing some great racers only to have one 4 second run? but as you can see we enjoyed ourselves.

Not sure how you missed us all Guy, we had a number of BBS members in attendance Dave (O'neill), Matt (TARQ) Peter (Hobson) and Richard (B) Sorry if I missed someone out.
Plenty of witnesses LOL.
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

Bob, I think my mistake may have been to believe the times in the program. Either that, or with the excitement I just came too early.
Guy

LOL nice one Guy

Dave she was a turbo as well once it got over its Turbo lag it went like joe!! :)
