Surely MSA regulations specifically permit organising clubs to invite members of other clubs to compete.

If MGCC wants to hold a 'closed to club' event, that is not necessarily surprising, but it is quite contrary to the spirit of Midget50.

Tom - Not my place to comment (as not part of Lincs MGCC) but I am sure that it will be made open to all other midget and sprite members providing that temp membership of MGCC is taken out on the day.

Thanks Tom for the reminder

The event is open to all clubs affiliated to the MSA so if a member is one of those mentioned in the MSA Blue Book then they are eligible to participate.

We are still exploring the issue of temporary membership of the MGCC to allow for example MGOC members to participate but this has yet to be resolved.

Unfortunately, the MSA are quite strict on who can participate and if an event is run under their approval & permit then they are the ones who decide on the rules.

Please be reassured that I will be doing everything in my power to allow all who want to participate that opportunity to do so but I don't write the rules.

If there is change about the temporary membership issue I shall be posting an update on the BBS.

many thanks

if you can drive a Midget on an autosolo then you should also be able to drive a coach and horses through the rules and regulations ;-) (or at least be able to work them to best advantage)

The way I read the ASR's for the event its only open to MGCC members

"The event is open to all fully elected members of the promoting club.
Club membership cards will be inspected at signing on, but competition licences are not required"

Which is a pity as I have been trying to get some non MGCC members to enter.

Its a very enjoyable event, with plenty of space to have fun, its reasonably competive yet still friendly, and as a bonus the Aviation Museum will be open on the day as the event is on a Saturday this year.

David (Smith) are you coming along for a go ??

I'll be trying for a hat trick of wins.....but I have a feeling that's going to be very difficult this year !

sadly not Ian - the race Midget has two duff engines and no good spare; the Lenham is still two separate cars in a lockup and a pile of parts in the log shed. Even if I wasn't drummed out the ZS180 and the Porsche 924 are both a bit big....
