MG Midget and Sprite General - Midget 50 Accommodation
| Folks - Any idea when the Acommodation link on the Midget 50 website is likely to appear? I am planning to come down from Edinburgh (probably with car on trailer) and so am looking for suitable accommodation nearby - ideally B&B, maybe campsite. Tim (Mark 2 Sprite)

These "old hoods" sure look good seen from the side, looks like a (porsche)speedster lowered hood. Tim, wouldnt you just like to drive it down? (taking the car is relyable at the moment) These little cars enjoy their long trips really well!

what hood is that... Ive been looking at that photo for 1/2 hour trying to figure out why it looks so cool... it really does have a sleek appearance... I have to agree with Aries assement... has a porsha flavor to it. Ive got a robinson top ... but it just dosnt look quite the same as this one for some reason. What ever it is, Im a fan. Prop

Prop, If I'm not mistaken, it looks like that because it is a side curtain model rather than a roll up model. They always were more cool. Charley

OOOohhhhhh ...... Thank you charley... yepp your correct it is a side window design... Now I get it. Call me strange But im still a fan of roll up windows

Tim Whilst I know that this is of scant assistance to you, as many of you will know, Toby Anscombe is the Website manager for Midget50, and, this has been a slightly awkward year for him, with the premature birth of their daughter and then the death of his father, so, the website has been, understandably, not always a priority to him. HOWEVER, yes, there should be some accommodation information available, and, whilst I gather from many sources, most of the hotels/b&bs in Stamford are now fully booked, I am negotiating a special "Midget50" camping area at a large campsite just up the road, and will let people know about this as soon as I can (before the end of this week) Prop - anyone who "bunks up" in my house had better be prepared for very little sleep as I have to be at Burghley for 7am!!!! Not for the fainthearted I think :) However, if all else fails - there are a couple of campsites around here - and there's always the field - if you don't mind being awaken by horses ;)

Tim - here's the link for the campsite: http://www.tallington.com/park/camping I have spoken to them, and, so long as there are enough people, they are going to set up a "Midget50" camping area - mention "Midget50" when you call or e-mail to make your booking. That goes for everyone who wishes to camp there!

Tim, We're coming down from Edinburgh too, probably making a bit of road trip out of it, a stop in York, for instance. We're doing it with a 1500 and a 'chase' car for the other couple. We're staying in one of the generic Days/Jurys/Premier inns in Peterborough, not that far away. Some places are doing pretty good deals if you get onto the website sharpish! We got ours by buying some News of the World and got the rooms for a tenner! -Craig

Thanks for the compliments on the hood - it does look smart from a distance but on closer inspection it looks pretty tatty! I need a new one - maybe have it ready for Midget 50! The 360 mile drive to Burleigh from Edinburgh and back in the Sprite would be great fun for me but not for my wife who would have to travel exceptionally light! If the weather was not great it wouldn't be fun for me either and so the trailer is probably the best bet with spells taking the Sprite off the trailer if weather permits. Thats what we did for Spridget 50. Rachel - thanks for explaining the position re the website info. The campsite option sounds good - especially with a trailer. I'll give it some thought. Craig - credit to you for planning to driving the midget down - maybe see you en-route. Tim

You're welcome and the campsite is rather nice (albeit I will be lounging in the luxury of my own bed!)! You can fit loads and loads in a midget - when we went to the spridget weekend last year and a few days extra, my luggage was outweighed by a male and it even coped with all that - plus tools, tent and spare wheel!!! It's ok though, my parents come a couple of weeks later, so I won't ask if you could bring my new boots down for me ;)

Tim, yeah, won't be nice if it rains! I seem to remember getting stuck in traffic on some motorway near-ish gaydon last time and pulling onto the hard shoulder under a flyover to put the hood up! got a few amused looks from the stationary traffic beside! My other half has really got used to the idea of packing light for the midget so it can be done! Keep an eye out for us, ours will be the red one with no bumpers and a lion rampant fluttering from the aeriel. which reminds me, better re-fit the aeriel...! -C

| Tim, My wife travels light too! This picture was taken last year in France during a 17 day holiday down to the south!! Camping by the way! Edinburgh to Burleigh would seem a breeze!!
