MG Midget and Sprite General - MG seats
hi, any tell me how to replace my seats in my 78 Midget? got the replacement seats and cant find much online as to how to change them? does the whole until come out with the runners as well or are the car mounted runners left bolted on? help :)

Four bolts per seat - nuts and washers underneath. When replacing I recommend the largest washers you can get to spread the load (in the event of the unthinkable happening).

Well actually, you unbolt the FRONT of the runners from under the floor pan. For the rear bolts, you need to slide the seats forward and access them from above. As for backing up with washers, the inboard front bolt is located in a floor pan stiffening channel. So if a washer is too large, it won't go... the outboard one is out in the open, and should accept a decent-sized washer with no problem. The rear bolts run into captive nuts in the floor, so washers don't apply there. Cheers, -:G:-

Wahers on top of the floor pan on the outboard ones are a god idea, even for the rear one. Help spreads the weight over a quite flexible floorpan. If the washers are quite thick, you might want to use them on the inner holes as weel just to keep the seat level. Stick the top washers to the floor with sealant or something similar first to avaoid risk of them shoffling out of place while the seat is lowered into place. Tip: Brush up on colourful vocabulary first! Needed to ease frustration of aligning studs & holes.
