MG Midget and Sprite General - MG back at Le Mans?
A scoop here for the MGCC Lincolnshire but fantastic news for us all I think, especially those who love the 24 hour each year. http://www.mgcclincolnshire.co.uk/

I hope they continue to help the team next year when I can get back to La Belle Patrie for Le Mans. Good spot Bob ta! Cheers.

I believe that up until this season the RML team were running an MG Lola, could be mistaken though. But you're right it's good news. Ian

At the risk of being a bit of a party-pooper, while it's good to see the octagon on a race car, it's a shame it's just an advert, and that the car in question is no more (or less, to be fair) MG than the others. The real good news would be getting an MG6 entry to touring cars or something. OSM.

and the Peugeot is a Peugeot? and the Audi is an Audi?? Yes as you suggest they are simply all just adverts, cos the mercedes F1 car bears little resemblance to a C220. Not sure how it could be any different? :) Not really convinced that touring cars are much more than Silhouettes?

I said I was a bit of a party pooper, but I don't think you quite got my point. The Peugeot 908 is developped by Peugeot sport by people who actually work for Peugeot. The Audi R15 and R18 are, strangely, actually made by Audi. Some of the Peugeot sport people come from the ranks of peugeot workers, encouraging the best to move into elite motorsport. The so-called "MG Lola" doesn't, from what I can tell, have any MG employees. Sure, the 908 is not the same as the 308 you can buy from the dealer (it's six HUNDRED better :) ), and the touring cars aren't for sale either, but they are (usually) made by the same company (or at least, group). This is an exercise in marketing, sticking an MG badge on a Lola. Like I said, party-pooper :) but I did also say it's nice to see the octagon on a race car again, even if it is someone else's ;)

Yes I see the point but sometimes it is a very shady line to draw. If MG paid Lola to build them a race car then do Lola work for MG? Would Lola then become the special car arm of MG? the same as many others? I think it is very difficult to draw a line between factory teams and sponsorship!

Now i am going to be the big party pooper Proud of the MG badge on a lola that is almost 10 years old and is certainly past it's prime...... I wish MG would put up the cash for lola to develop them a real lmp1/2 contender!

I was under the impression the Audi Sport Le mans team was originally Team Joest which certainly started independently to Audi and used to build cars for Porsche I think. I don't know how much now the team is integrated into Audi Group. Clearly Audi have focused on the team and its success quite significantly. Hopefully in 11 years we'll have also forgotten the origins of the MG Le Mans team following years of domination and just accept the presence of the octagon badge on almost anything thats stationary and can be used as an advertising hoarding around the circuit.....maybe ;-)

Now that is a nice thought!
