MG Midget and Sprite General - Linking to archive!
Anybody know how one creates a link to a specific thread in the archive? It used to be easily done, but doesn't appear to work now. I was trying to add a link to a thread on rear suspension which is relevant to a current thread but was not able to do so. I have a bokmark to the thread I wanted to refer to, that works fine, but if I try and copy the url and paste it into the thread it takes you to the front page of the relevant current BBS! Just like this: http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=archiveth&subject=97&subjectar=97&thread=200808242331585210 Really annoying! Graham.

The Archive is only open to members. When you post a link to the BBS - the BBS itself removes the part of the url that indicates you're a member (access= Without that membership part....the archive link is redirected to the current forum. Your local bookmark WILL have the access=xxxxxx so will work and indeed would work on any other website - its only when pasted here that the detail is removed. Don't be tempted to use a URL shrinker/re-writer etc as that will include your unique access number and allow anyone to post here as you. Not sure there is a solution for a safe direct link to the archive. It might be better to re-activate the thread from the archive - then you could post a safe public link to it within the current section

Thanks Dean, that clears that up, Graham.
