MG Midget and Sprite General - Leeds/Bradford Area
Live in Farsley Leeds does anyone know which MG clubs are near by, I know the Leeds one meets in Thorner which is a bit of a trek for me approx 40mins drive does anyone live near me who attends a club? Would love to become an active member?
C Carter
There's the Yorkshire branch of the Midget & Sprite Club, who meet regularly at the Jolly Farmers near Thirsk but that's quite a bit further than Thorner I'm afraid! http://yorkshiremasc.blogspot.com/

I know alot of the people in the MGCC Yorkshire centre and always found them to be a very active and sociable bunch Here is their list of meeting nights hope there is one near you each month http://tinyurl.com/3ttryn7

Well I used to live in Farsley when at my parents the West Riding group of the MGCC meet in Robertown (or at least used to) on a Tuesday evening. It's about time I made an effort to get along, so I'll dig our some information on when they meet and if they've moved and let you know. Andrew

Ha... C. Carter... I've spent many a happy (and long) hour in Farsley at the YTV Heartbeat studios. :-) Mark.
M T Boldry
Yes, CC, they meet on the second Tuesday of the month at The Star Inn , Roberttown. Arthur.

Thanks Arthur. We'll make an effort to come along again. Andrew
Andrew McGee
Thanks for the information Andrew, are you still living local? Roberttown is about 30 mins drive for me but I will make an effort to come along and meet some fellow MG nuts.
C Carter
Oh to be just 30 minutes drive away from a natter ..... Mind you, depending what I'm driving I suppose :)
rachmacb
Nope, over Holmfirth way now, but Robertown is still within easy distance.
Andrew McGee
What are you driving andrew.
C Carter

Hi Mick please tell me you have sorted your K series?
C Carter
C (seems so impersonal that somehow - what's your real name)... What am I driving now, well the family car is a Volvo (yes I'm finally becoming middle aged!!!), we have a Midget that is road legal which I originally built nearly 20 years ago, sold it 13 years ago and saw it on ebay 5 or 6 years ago and bought it back. Next to that in the garage is my race Midget which if you look back in the archives under RIP old friend or something similar you'll see the demise of the original race Midget and the birth of the current one. Then in the workshop at the back, there's the red Midget which was bought 9 years ago and stripped down but put to one side whilst all the other Midget things happened. This one is now undergoing steel surgery to bring it up to race spec as my eldest lad is claiming that as a Class C (standard) spec car to start competing in the Midget Challenge in a couple of years time. And finally, we have a MGBGT Jubilee edition that needs new sills etc so that one is in storage at the moment whilst I get confident to tackle that one with the MIG. So in answer to your question... that'll be a Volvo then :-) Andrew

Sorry, folks. It is of course on the third Tuesday of the month. Senior moment. Arthur.

Hi Arthur, Good to "see" you on here again. Hope you'se well. Guy

Thanksfor that Andrew my name Chris. I have two 1500 midgets one needs a little TLC to the carbs then an MOT the other needs new inner/ outer sill and a repair to the rear hanger section, the floor the outer footwell wall and probably a million more areas infact might be easier to reshell! But I have a MIG and am willing to learn so will hopefully be tackling that one this winter. I am also putting my dads BGT back on the road after 18 years in his garage. Would love to get into racing midgets however sadly due to lack of funds I would settle for just getting mine back on the road.

This is the oddest coincidence. I'm also Chris Carter... and have a 1500 midget! And I am from Yorkshire too! Although I now live and work in London =( I'm planning a motoring holiday in the Lakes next spring and when I move back up north will be interested in joining a midget club too. Let me know how you get on with them. Christian

Must admit I did get somewhat confused over there being two Chris Carters.... then again confusing me is not hard! :-)
Andrew McGee
Chris -- west yorkshire I have a spare pair of 1500 carbs if you need them!

This is Crazy not only are there two Chris Carters but just noticed your middle initial is L and my middle name is lawrence! Mick I might have to take you up on that offer if they are in good condition might be easier to swap them off all in one then I can refurb mine with the car still running!.
C Carter
"This is the oddest coincidence. I'm also Chris Carter... and have a 1500 midget! And I am from Yorkshire too!" Thats no coincidence, its a typical result of inbreeding. LOL!!!
