MG Midget and Sprite General - Le Mans 2011

I know it's bad form in view of the event taking place at Burghley House. But is anyone else from here going to that little motoring event in France over the same weekend?
Gary & Gaps

SHAME on you Gary.... Surely you'll be at Midget 50... Le mans will be on year after year, Midget 50 will be once in a lifetime, never to be repeated....

I was hoping to catch up with you there too.... :-(

Dissapointed..

Mark.
M T Boldry

It is rather!

No matter - the long term weather forecast is for sun in Stamford - and guess what - RAIN in France!!!!!!

Of course, it'll probably change, but, at least at Midget50, there's loads going on that doesn't involve being outside all the time ;)
rachmacb

Hmm - I didn't bother looking into LM because I thought every bugger would be at M50
Surprised you're being let out to play now Lois has got you on a chain lol
So where are you headed? Got the camping pass yet?
Bob T

Blue Nord, Close to MGMark, Canada Phil and most of the CA boys.
I've got a very understanding wife who knows hw grumpy I'd get if I were to miss out on Le Mans.
It's about time we all met up again.
How about the Ace Cafe on 14th of June, The day after I get back from Le Mans.
Gary & Gaps

...or the poo bar on Sat eve if i can get a camp ticket :o)
Bob T

Ace then OK

tell Mark

if he's back by then

Bob forget the Poo bar

its so the year before the one before last ;0

How about next year, bring the lad, who knows about these things...
Bill 1

That's a plan. A big reunion nest year possibly even at what's left of Houx Annexe.
Bob, I'll email you my new mobile number. I'll be leaving for Le Mans (Sea France Dover Calaise) on Thursday am and coming back Monday evening.
Gary & Gaps

Just to make it easier for you Bob.
You are just one click away.
I'm on Blue Nord

Gary & Gaps

Just waiting to find out if I'm gonna be accompanied by the turbonutter squadron then we'll sort some plots
Bob T

I think that mamber Langtall has 4 BN tickets left (all together). Don't bother with Ant's Audi, It's sure to break down AGAIN! :0)
Gary & Gaps

Yep Ant keeps bolting bigger turbos and more gadgets on it and wonders why its never running properly. I've no idea where he gets that behaviour from...
Bob T

First since 2002 I'll miss :-(

Midget hasn't moved since September last year and I wont make Spridget 50 either by the looks of it.

Need more time or days or something.
Dean Smith ('73 RWA)

I will be at le Mans at beau sejour, as I am there every year. Why is Midget 50 on the same date?

Flip,

Are you going to the Great British Welcome at St Saturin on the Friday. It's one of the best Classic Car shows anywhere. Not just British cars, although the E Type is the featured car this year. I normally go and park nest to the shiniest car that I can find, just to upset them :0)
It would be great to meet up, Frog to Frog (as it were).
Gary & Gaps

What time is the welcome and where?
Flip
Flip Brühl 948 frog 59

Flip - http://www.classicbw.org/ for info...

St Sat is just to the north of LM on the N138.

Its got to that time where I really wish I was packing the car....
Toby Anscombe

me too

still I AM going next year

(been told I'm like a grumpy old bear, must be a'cos I am staying here AGAIN this year)she says...

So I have orders to ge next year :)

ACE Tuesday after M50, will you be up for it after "The Great Tazz" across La Belle Patrie on Monday Gary?

I will be there
Bill 1

Good news, Bill. Doug and I are planning a jaunt next year. Started saving already.

As we've been away so long, maybe Gary can show us the ropes.

Pining for Houx Annexe, though . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Nick

I feel as if I've been nailed to the bleedin' perch myself

I do pine for it a bit

Bleu Nord is quite a lot easier access to "The Village", but just outside the actual track

I always loved the surround-sound effects of being tucked away inside by the Tertre Rouge corner and the wail of power as the "lads" hit the throttles for the Mulsanne

Ah those 'Vettes in the night

So yes that's decided it for me

Gary we have to get in with Steve B for next year...
Bill 1

Sounds like we're going o have a nice full compliment of Spridgets and their owners next year. Like old times.
Gary & Gaps

Better than that Gary :)

Quite a few SS&NBers are up for the trip too

Time to wrangle a few HA passes for us all

4 so far including bills 1 and 2

The major topic last Wednesday

Ace this month?
Bill 1

I'll be there in my Iris Blue Midget! Staying in the usual Houx campsite, trip 13 for me, 7 for the MG.

Had a great idea this year and bought a second hand boot lid from ebay and fitted a luggage rack. So that will now become the LM touring pack!
Robin Cohen

The closer we get - the more I'm struggling with Le mans envy.

Radio Le Mans, Eurosport Player, Twitter - They're all conspiring to stopping me working and its only Tuesday !

Even had to put the Le mans tent up in the garden for kids to play in at the weekend. Sigh. Come Thursday night I'll be lighting BBQs all round the garden to fill the evening air with that unique campsite fog of BBQ smells.
Dean Smith ('73 RWA)

How do you think I feel Dean

Can't listen Saturday or Sunday, far too blimmin' busy

Hope I can get some TV to record...
Bill 1

All sounding very exciting for next year. Ace Cafe next Tuesday. Can't believe that it will be all be over by then!
As usual, I am running out of time so I'll have to pack the car very early on Thursday morning and assume that the car will be fine.
Gary & Gaps

hmm you're lucky! My car doesn't even have a gearbox at the mo...

Clutch failure - hoping to get it back in one piece tomorrow. Cross you fingers for me please, LeMans in my van doesn't appeal
Bob T

Fully prepped the car last night......Rainex. So I'm ready to go.
New rollcage means that the super quick "throw it in the air and it's ready by the time it lands" tent won't fit. So it's back to the old style put it up myself metheod.
The van might come in useful :0)
Gary & Gaps

good luck you lot

I wish

but never mind eh

Tuesday, see ya
Bill 1

Thanks Bill. I'll call you this evening.
Gary & Gaps

Porker is rolling... ;o)
Bob T

both of you (and the others)

have a good 'un

I wish you the best racing and the best weather

Gary please keep the grass tidy, I don't want to have to pitch my tent on your old hootch bottles next time
